After spending six years in prison, Ryan (a.k.a. "Rainforest" or "Rainy") believes that criminal justice can be changed through changing the public's mindset about justice, punishment, and the purpose of the legal system. Ryan studied criminology and Victim Advocacy as part of his BA in Sociology. Ryan continues to research issues affecting the criminal legal system to help others understand and find ways to improve how we seek justice in society.
Most people understand that prisons exist, but don't know how they work, or the full process of how people get there. Many people do not know that there are many alternatives to prison or different ways to do prison that can reduce crime as well as give victims more choice in the results they want to see out of the justice system. If you are one of these people, just want to learn more, or want to hear one of a kind personal experience stories about people who have been touched by the criminal legal system, definitely check us out!
